THE METHOD

How to use this estimate

  1. Measure the net floor area or enter it directly. A straight-lay area estimate is the starting point.
  2. Tile dimensions and joint width define an approximate module. Layout, edge cuts, diagonal patterns and breakage can change actual requirements.
  3. Enter tiles per box to turn the unrounded area requirement into whole purchase boxes.
FORMULA / ENGINE VERSION 1.0

estimated tiles = area × (1 + waste / 100) ÷ ((tile length + joint) × (tile width + joint))

Questions, answered

Does this support herringbone or diagonal layout?

No layout is optimized in this release. Adjust the waste allowance based on a verified installation plan.

When do you round?

Tile count rounds for display. Boxes are calculated from the original unrounded requirement, then rounded once.
